Let’s start with a key statement: Your senior students are NOT your friends.
Hopefully it goes without saying that no pupils can ever be your friends (either in reality or on social media) but this is especially important in a music department and as the Head of Music you must be especially vigilant. This is not about avoiding close personal relationships with students – that has to be a given – but making sure you do not get too close to them in other ways: you must always remain their teacher, and there must be no grey areas.
